Post Got one
Well almost got a rig. My father in law, gave my son a rivet hull. Its 36" on bottom and 14' long. It's kinda beat up but still usable. It doesn't leak from what I can tell. I filled it with water and didn't see any drips from rivets or the seems. Couple of weekends ago we stripped the paint(3 different colors) and primed it ready for camo. Finally got a trailer from my brother (if you read my trailer post you'll know what's going on). Now I have to decide on a motor.
I'd rather have a SD but there aren't many under 26cc, and from what I was told. GD isn't making the 18 anymore. So the next step is MB or Copperhead. I got a few things to do to the hull, but hopefully I can have it up and running by this season. I (me and my son) are building this boat for him to have when he becomes of age and has a license (he's almost 16), but I will be using it till I can get a few other bills linedout and then get me a custom hull with a GT or PD.

What you guys think I should put on it for a MM? I don't really plan to be mudd'n in it, just worried about low water sitiuations in the areas I plan to duck hunt. I don't want to worry about messing up a lower unit on an outboard. Which is my next option.

Thanks in advance.

We ran a 13hp lt on a 1436 for a while. It was a slow lil ride but it pushed through some thick stuff, even loaded down. Typically ran two people out of it, but had three on more than one occasion. Some of these guys have put heavier motors on em, but some boats will float em, and some just won't. No real way to know unless you drop one on there. We put a 24 on a 1442 and it wouldn't even plane out, but some are running 23's and 27's on the same size boat with no issues.

If you have to have a sd, your options are pretty limited on finding one with a small motor as you are finding out.

Jason, I can't put that on this boat. It will be too heavy. Besides, when did PD make a 23? That must be an old motor? Also, check your PM.
