I was at Divinducks place last night looking at his Brother Breaux. Nice boat, think I am going to have to call him this morning for a quote. Divinduck told me that he thought either Aucoin or Pro Drive, can't remember who he told me, has a new hull design that is self bailing. Anybody heard anything about this? Did I miss this somewhere? I am shopping right now to replace the hull I bought last year. I thought I knew what I was getting, not from who yet, but if there is someone that figured out how to make a self bailing hull that does not weigh 900 pounds, I might change my mind. |

KP with Prodrive has a prototype he has been running..... He didn't say when he would be releasing it as a new model. |

it has an elevated, sealed floor with little flapper thingies in the back that act like check valves letting water run out da back of da boat but keeping waves and backwash from coming in. |

I figure they are a little busy at Pro Drive with the Sportsman Show this weekend. I emailed KP about it. I guess that is the new design he told me would not be out until fall. Maybe Monday or Tuesday he'll get back to me. But, if he can do it, I can do it. Anyone know if it is just a sealed deck or does it have foam in it? Has anyone seen it? Is it rigged with twins? Know what size? Just trying to figure out if it is real heavy. |

KP said it will be somewhat heavier than the commercial hulls..... I haven't seen it but yes, it does have flotation. |

Kp's boat does have foam in the sealed part. he has to do testing on the boat when it's swamped, and of course there's still some small things he doesn't like and wants to change. He told us it was about 100 pounds heavier than the same size boat without self-bailing. So I wouldn't look for it to be a production model any time soon. I thought it was a cool concept, and some folks may find it useful. |

Got an email back from KP and also talked to the Pro Drive guys at the Sportsman show Saturday. Sounds like they do have a few kinks to work out, like how high to make the floor and what size, how many and what type drains to use. Also sounded like it was a poured foam inside the sealed floor. If you can keep it light enough it is a great deal. Full flotation without giving up any room front to back inside the hull. If true self bailing, no bilge pump to worry about and the water the dog brings in runs right out. |
