Hey yall i just joined this site a few days ago. ive looked at this site numerous times for pointers on mud boats. im planning on getting one this fall for duck season. ive been really looking around and have almost made my mind up on the new Excel F4 Duckboat. They make it with a 6 degree mod-v hull and a straight flat bottom. Im using it to hunt the red river in Shreveport, so that thick thick mud on the videos is out of the picture. The main purpose is to get thru water hysnith and coontail moss and what not. Which boat would be better for this use flat or mod-v. thanks yall. .....TJ |

While Excel makes some fine hulls ---- they actually say on their own website that this hull is primarily for outboards.... But if you could see a MM on it and see an advantage then great... Try a PM to DeadBird8... SEARCH for his revue of his Excel rigs... sample --- viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10252&p=113423&hilit=Excel+F4#p113423 Look where you run at what runs best ---- a bataeu with a pointed bow and a flat bottom is what works best for most places.... Test drive em all... |

well im not hunting that thick mud that seems to be all over south LA, but i am hunting water with more vegetation. its at least 2-3 feet deep. im guessin that a semi v would be ok. its alot more deep water running than it is shallow so i would kind of like the semi v hull. how much are plain jane F4 Duckboats? Thanks again yall |

Go on the excel site and find a dealer close. F4 are flat bottom. You can get a flat front or a v nose. |

i was looking at the f4's before i bought my gator tail. Damn fine boats. As far as fit and finish goes, i don't see anything else out there that even comes close. They are a bit pricey though. I know nothing about their actual real world performance to comment on that. And, from what I remember they come standard with .100 aluminum. The .125 is an option, but of course that cost even more. |

i give about $5100 for a .100 1651f4 shallow water with no camo and few other options.i thought that was a damed good deal. put a new 35cdi gtr on it. turns on a dime but kinda wish i would have bought the 1751. |
