not too long ago i was in florida fishing offshore, saw some boys scooting across the water in a deckover hull, ive never seen any deckovers except on airboats. i got to wondering about taking a deckover and putting a mud motor on it. it would definitly be bad ass in the mud, why? i dunno, just seems like a cool idea maybe.

anyone ever seen one? what kinda positives and negatives could you think of about it?

I've driven the GDSD hull and motor from an elevated fishing platform...

It gives you a good view being elevated.... I thought it would feel a bit
awkward to be up there - but when handle is properly repositioned it was
really quite normal feeling to drive from there.... With poling platform to
lean on and hold on to felt pretty secure - there is an option to raise the
grab bar too but his boat didn't have it.... Not sure I would have wanted
to do it without the poling platform though....

Only negative is that come winter you are also totally exposed to the cold / wind / rain.....

On the GDSD it is removable - so - I would take it off in winter....

naw, it aint worth calling nobody, i just had that crazy thought earlier. and the boat i saw was totally flat, like standing on the water, flats type boat. im taking a cad class now, when i get better with it i think ima design one. i have lotsa crazy stuff to design. one of these days a design is gonna be big, and ill be the next coco ;)

i dont imagine it being all that great for duck hunting, but for mudriding and some fishing, itd prolly be pretty cool

all i have needed is books, i dont know if i could really use your papers. if you got any books that i could use let me know.

and im on tops for 4 years, so i plan on bein here for 4 1/2 years, maybe 5. ive got two classes for wildlife management now, plant science is one, and NRCM is the other. the NRCM is really interesting, its only one hour a week but every week now weve got people from organizations like LDWF, USFW, NWTF, USDA, etc...
even the book is interesting so far, Sand County Almanac, and i hate, i mean HATE, to read.

I think this is what he is talking about. A full deck over. There is no way to swamp it.vp1200628_1_large.jpg

i pictured a hull like this, those hulls you showed seem like just regular hulls with sheet aluminum over the gunwhales. i pictured the real little sides. i dont really know where im goin with this idea, kinda pointless, like most of my ideas, but this kinda hull with a mudmotor is what i pictured. might be good for a work boat or something.

hell yeah, theyre bad. i grew up in FL where everyone got one, they are great, but it seems like theres a lotta places that wont let you ride em. in FL they make the levees capable of taking airboats. maybe its just SW LA? and better in SE LA?

Yep very very different.

Airboat - main source of momentum is air

Fanboat - air is used as a trolling motor basically. Usually has a outboard or some other source of main power

Shadow.
I do not personally know Brooks, but I can only assume that there is a strong chance that he don't give a Fuk about what you say or think.
