Post subject:  16/44 GD questions
I have a 16/44 GD boat with a 35 GDSD,and I have problems with it porposing when running it alone. I have moved my gas tank up front but not the battery yet my flotation is pretty waterlogged,and I am thinking about cutting it out in the stern,and the bow and making a hatch up front to store. Tank and battery,and makeing gun boxes out of the stern boxes. Any suggestions on what else to do to it to keep it from riding so low,and porposing ? I don't wanna getrid of this lil boat yet,because of the places I hunt sometimes are pretty narrow to get into and also the lil boat is a hel of a lot easier to get unstuck than a big boat. With the flotationout,what does everyone think about the swamping isue being since I am running a 35 GDSD on that small of a boat,and speeds I should be getting.

I'm runnin the same boat with a 35 MB, the guy I got it from ran a 35 GT. Yes it'll squat a lil bit, but no big deal, just learn how to throttle down easy. Mine doesn't porpose, but it does have a small hook right at the transom. You can either beatt a small hook in yours, or add some wedges to the bottom & that should stop it.

Funny thing is when Scott (SmokeEater) call Coco to try to figure out what to do to his 1656, Coco told him to flip it over & beat it with a sledge. :lol:

Hahaahaha.Thats about right there.I am gonna take atleast the stern flotation out of it and I looked at the wedge thing,but cant find nothing on positioning them.I kinda like the performance hook idea. Where is it located at on your boat. :D PAlso I done figured out the throttling down part last year when I firs got it. :lol:

When by myself it would porpoise if I hit a wave just right at full speed. If I dropped down the throttle a hair, it would go away. I didn't have wedges or a hook. I replaced foam under the floor cause it was badly waterlogged, but I never touched the rest of the foam in the boat. It is a good little rig that flies with the 35 on the back and corners great. Never had trouble with water over the transom but it did like to ride up the sides in the back corner. My boat had no side crimp, so I put a 8 foot piece of aluminum angle on the side and all was good again.

I'd suggest the wedges before the performance hook. I believe the wedges will be a little easier to adjust on. If you have the tapered transom like mine, I put my wedges right where the tapered transom meets the flat bottom of the hull. I placed them towards the outer edge of the boat where they would clear the boards on my trailer. My wedges are about 5 or 6 inches wide, about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch high. If those measurements make any sense. Lol! Any questions just let me know.
