 16 44 GD - which motor 23 or 35 GTR? Brand new set up with a 23 gdlt - but with my big ass and my cousins bigger ass we do about 5 - 10 mph and it sucks - so the long tail has gotta go - my delima is motor size - i am going with a gator tail and the boat is rated for a 35 - but i wanted to ask you guys about what should work best for my boat size 23 or 35?
i have a 1644 Godevil boat with rounded chines and a 16" transom that is tapered. 10 galon aluminum fuel tank mounted in front.
Comments and suggestions are welcome

Re: 16 44 GD - which motor 23 or 35 GTR? I would go with the 35 and look into building up the transom to 21" so you can buy the tall transom GTR and you wont have as much backwash when slowing down or in reverse.

Re: 16 44 GD - which motor 23 or 35 GTR? I test drove a GD1648 with a 23 GDSD. With three people (2 not very big) and no extra load it was too slow. I then bought a 1644 just like yours and went straight to the 35 GDSD. 3 guys and a hunting load and it still went plenty fast. Only reason not to go with a 35 is if you can't afford it. You'll be very happy you did.
