Post bigger faster boat
I am interested in buying a boat and motor but I want to make sure I get the best product for the amount of money I would be spending. A normal hunt is with 3 or 4 guys with atleast one dog and 3-6 doz goose floaters and same for the duck decoys. I make my own duck decoys from cork and wood which makes even more weight. So what I am asking is this, I need a boat that is atleast 1860/1870 and with a motor with enough power to push that giant load a long way through the marsh often running through BIG waters of the chesapeake bay. Been looking through alot of pre-fab boats and the popular motor sites but I dont know enough about them. Any information would be helpful.

thanks,
dan

With mudboats - most mfgs max width is 60 - from the 1860
you should look at a 2060 or longer, not wider, for big loads....

What challenges do you face that make you think "mudboat" up
there instead of big "skulling boat" with outboard ???

The answers to that question might get you the best advise ! ! !

Phowler makes a big boat. I'm sure Uncle J's boats would build you a 35' boat if you wanted one.

I just purchased a Phowler 2066 for very similar reasons.

I think a 20'x60" extreame hull from gator-tail with dual GTR's would be an ideal rig for you if you are gonna be hullin loads like dat on a regular basis.

thanks for the replies...

I currently have an 18 ft seaark with a 40 hp johnson and I have had a few long evenings in the marsh when the wind blows the water out and we've had just enough water to barely push the boat out. So now I want a boat and motor that I wont have to worry about this anymore.

And with my schedule of two wks on/ two wks off a trip down to LA is not out of the question.

I have been checking out the phowler website and I have some family in Iowa so I may have to go visit them...haha

thanks,
dan

The places im talking about using this type of set up would be in sloppy mud sink up to your butt.

The dual setup would be extremely nice but I would like to keep the rig around $15k and not over $20k

thanks,
dan

a Bankes or a Duck water boat (boat in your area) won't work?
