But it passed the floatation test

We took our new Prowler floatation model out to a local pond to sink her and test her to coast guard compliance.

This is a 1236 Prowler - Boat Dry Weight is 180 lbs

The boat is to be rated for two persons with up to a 12hp motor and gear.

We put 140 lbs on the rear deck and over the transom to simulate the weight of a 12 hp cooperhead electric start model, added another 70 lbs to the center of the boat to simulate battery and light gear and pulled the plug and started pumping water in.

I was in the boat while we pumped water, at half to 2/3 full I could not tip the boat far enough to get the cockpit under the water.

Then Bubba climbed in:

Boat remained afloat with myself and Bubba in the boat (total of 405 lbs of person weight).

Then we did the list test to see if the boat would roll over.

The boat did not roll with both of us leaning to one side within the "safe zone" of the boat (the area a person should remain in a swamped boat per Coast Guard test regs).

Just to see we decided to see if we could flip the boat so Bubba stood up to one side and put all my weight on the same side at the transom:

We could not flip the boat.

The more we do with this little boat the more impressed we are with it, it is fast, stable and safe.

Now that we have completed our testing and know our floatation calculation are right on the money, we will start production of these boats in 12', 14 and 16' for sale to the public.

Thanks,

PW
