Does anyone on here know how to advance the timing on a 40 Merc? |

Theres two different timing adjustments, one for idle and one for WOT. The trigger coil is mounted under the flywheel with the stator. The trigger coil is attatched to the throttle linkage. There is two different stop screws for idle or WOT timing adjustment. |

DMC is right but don't go over what the manufacturer recommends, you could cause some serious engine damage to it so make sure you use a timing gun when you do this with the engine in the water. I used to mark the flywheels with liquid paper to see the timing marks more clearly. |
