Just returned from the wooden boat festival in Madisonville, La. Not a single surfacedrives boat there. I'm going to display mine next year. I would have stolen the show with my wooden skiff and GTR23!! |

I want to see some pics of your rig. I always liked the old juniper skiffs the old timers used, when the tide is low here you can see a few on bottom. Kinda cool to see the folks' boats that used to ride these waters. |

My ol man builds them out of fiberglass and they feel lighter at first then aluminum but if you want them to hold up any amount of time they get heavy fast with all the weight in fiberglass. |

Got dammit I'm gonna build one some day, I know they're slow and all, but it would still be cool. My woodworkin' skills are bangin' so I know it'll be nice, probably go with juniper so it don't rot on me. |

why didnt you go with aluminum? or an old castiron briggs? kinda reminds me of them cityboys with them jacked up 4x4's and big ole tires but never get em dirty. j/k its nice....stirrin the pot...had one just like it when i was 10 or so,had a 25 johnson on the transom with a bungee cord on the gear shift so it wouldnt "jump" out of gear.i think my old boat like that came from desalemands'? |
