Post SD mud motor for 1548 fisher/tracker blindduck boat
Looking to put an SD mud motor on my 1548 fisher/tracker to replace 25merc OB. Looking for suggestions have been looking at 23hp Gator-tail or 27hp prodrive. anyone know a friend that has a similar setup?

Before you buy, here is a bit of advice....

Check weight of current outboard - then add weight at transom to equal the extra weight of a mud motor....

Test drive to be sure hull behaves to your satisfaction with the extra weight....

i have a 1546 with a mod v hull with a 35GTR. Handles good all around but every boat has its place. Going over logs and 5in. water the back digs but still managable. I hunt in thick buck brush and have to thread a needle on some trails and as much as i would like an 18ft. it is to big. The mod v hurts on speed but bass fishing in the wind is nice with a trolling motor. Two poeple and gear and dog but still travel light run 27mph. If i had to change my boat i would go with a 16ft. as wide as i could stand.

Fortunately i will only be over here for 60 days I and everyone over here appreciates all the prayers and concern for us it makes coming over here that much more worthwhile. As far as a test drive goes i have a buddy that has a prodrive and i have driven that so it got some familiarity i appreciate the offer. Ill be back on here from time to time looking for a used motor if i can find one.

I also have a 1546 mv but with a 24hp hyperdrive on it. Yes the hyper weighs alot and the back does tend to sit a lil low. and the mod v does hurt your speed/load carrying ability but its what i had. that being said with me and another guy and my fastgrass/sissors blind on my boat i gpsd at 23mph.
