 hull thickness
i'm looking to get a rig this spring so i've been looking around at the different boats and motors i noticed some are .125 and some are .100 what is the best i'll be running farely clean water so cypress knees shouldn't be a problem would a .100 be something i could consider? i saw the new xpress mud hull on louisianasportsman and it sure is nice but its .100 thats why i was wondering thanks

I would go with a .125 boat, because once you put a mudmotor on the back of it your going to end up going places you never went before. For the price of the new xpress bayou series boats your better off spending that money on a custom made boat.

What type of areas are you running? Mud flats, stumps, rocky rivers?

Even if you are not hitting things now, you will once you get a mudmotor. So I would go with a .125" thick hull. Another thing to consider is the amount of stress these motors put on the hull at the transom due to weight and vibration.

The .125 hull is the only way to go. you will end up J hooking or putting realy big dents in the font with the thiner hull. one thing i learned go with the taller sides and tall transom. I went short side short transom and it can be a pain in a** whin the wind picks up or you make a sharp turn going way to fast

It doesn't matter what you run, it will dent and wrinkle.

Yeah, def don't go less than .125. I was trying to see what terrain you are running, because going to 3/16 may not be a bad idea if you are running anything like the areas we have around here.

I'm very happy with my 3/16" hull. Even if you are running places without stumps I'd at least get it on the bottom. It will give you peace of mind knowing that you wont have to worry about denting or putting a hole in your hull.
