Post Copperhead on a Gheenoe??
Anybody got any thoughts on this? I am looking at keeping my ghennoe now and putting some work into it to make it what I want (still looking for a jon but really need the motor more than the boat) and the copperhead surface drive (10 HP) has me seriously interested. I can't seem to find much about one on a gheenoe so I figured ya'll would be the ones to ask. I appreciate any advice. Thanks

ive always thought a mud motor would be badazz on a gheenoe. but for the price of a gheenoe i could get a small alweld used, so ive never really consiedered it. but as long as ya dont plan on jumpin stumps or anything i think a gheenoe would be awesome with a small surface drive.

I run a 10hp longtail on the back of my Gheenoe classic and I've loved it. As long as you're not jumping stumps and dikes, you should have no problems with putting a copperhead on the back of yours. I got my MM to get me through the thick vegetation on the lake I hunt, with the occasional need to run some shallow trails (when the water level is way down). The only thing I haven't liked about my setup is my turns are slow and wide because of the way the Gheenoe is designed. Instead of the boat "planting itself" like a jon boat and turning on a dime, the Gheenoe has a tendency to push across the surface of the water as you turn and take broader turns. I'm actually looking into upgrading to a 10-12hp copperhead, so if you do end up going with that or test drive a similar setup, let me know how it runs.
