Does pro drive make a boats with floatation? The websites says they do but there is no information about them, like price. If they do, does is hinder there performance, and is there a big price difference? |

jrog ... Prodrive has discontinued their X2 model boats. KP is introducing a new model, the SBX boat next month with a deck raised 9" off the bottom of the boat to be used as a cavity for the floatation. In order to do this, the sides of the boat have to be 24" or more, otherwise he can't do it. Floatation installed adds between 180 - 205 pounds to the hull and about 1630 dollars to the cost of fabrication. You'll also be limited to a 54" bottom width (which may or may not be an issue). I received a quote on a 17 x 60 without and a 17 x 54 with floatation this week. Fab time is at about 5 weeks. Good luck ... P |

X2 to what was just posted, no more X2 boats. I saw the SBX boats this winter down at PD when I was picking up more motors, they are tapered chine models, looked nice, different from anything currently out there. They are self bailing boats. I am not sure if they will be coast guard rated or not, we just got the specs and pricing from PD for 2011 and I did not see anything on the SBX sheet to say if they are CG Approved Level Floatation on not. They look and feel unusal with the raised floor, but I like the concept, we will be getting a couple ordered for up here this spring so we can demo folks in them. If you are looking for a regular style floatation hull, take a look at our Phowlers as well. PW |

Hmmmmmmm ... you got any pictures of those PD SBX float hulls ... ? I'm really just curious about the chines, pretty much already pulled the trigger on the 17 x 60 x 21, check's written, just need to tell KP to GO. |

x2 has flotation but dont believe they are level and i know they are not uscg approved. The new sbx are really unique just not sure about the taller sides and 9" riser on the floor. |

I saw one of these last time I picked up a prop. I thought it was pretty cool looking. Did not realize it was a new line of boat coming out, I just figured it was some kind of experiment or custom order or sampin. Cant wait to hear a review from some one when they put them out. |

You CAN still get them without the flotation --- I was there a couple of days ago and asked that question and was told you CAN still get the X-Series with NO flotation The self bailing boats are pretty neat -- They are unsinkable like the old boston whalers were |

Self bailing and unsinkable hulls are nothing new especially with alum boats. My shop has been designing and selling them for 20 years. http://www.boatrightmarine.com/cuerpo_g ... modelid=52 one of my old boats. |
