I have a mudbuddy 23 Hyper drive but i need a boat. I really like the gatortrax and was thinking like a 1544 with hunt deck or the excel F4 1645 but i would like to go at least 20 mph does any one know what kind of speeds i could get out of these boats or have any suggestions towards other boats........ Thanks

17x42 would be my choice.

that does not sound bad what kind of speeds would you expect out of a 1742 or even the boats i suggested I was thinking about 17 to 19 mph I had it on a 1448 crestliner and would do 22 with 2 guys and 26 with just me... but where im at and just for personal choice speed is kee so I want to get the best choice that can still handle 2 or 3 hunters

I have a mudbuddy 23 HP mini on a 1546 and I am running 23mph with 2 people. I'm having trouble running with one person. I think the boat might be a little too light because it doesn't control too well.

Those are about the best speeds ive ever heard with a 23.

You may get around the same speeds with a 17x42, but with a true mud hull you get better performance in mud and veggies, and a stronger built boat that will last longer in stumps.

you may also gain some loaded speed with a longer boat.
