Cracked hull!!

 Cracked hull!!I have a .125 5086 hull and beside the stringer at the transom I have developed a crack beside the weld. I is about 4 inches long and does go through the bottom of the hull. There is no dents or scrapes of any sort at this location. The hull has 90 hrs on it and it's only 18 months old. I cannot figure out how it happened..

Re: Cracked hull!! just a stress crack. the weld is stronger than the surrounding alum that is why it cracked on the edge of the weld.

Re: Cracked hull!! that's correct. It's a stress crack. The only true way to avoid them is stress relieving the entire hull. One of the reasons they are stress cracks is the fact that they then to stress us out.

Re: Cracked hull!! I had an express hull that had similar cracks on the transom. They welded it back up and added some more bracing. They did all this for free, and since I bought the boat 2nd hand it wasn't under warrenty. It didn't matter to them, they stood behind their product.
