 Which boat?
Well some of you have followed my stories of twisted hulls and hooked bottoms but I need another boat. I have owned 2 pro-drive boats and have hooked the hell out of both of them. Is there a boat made with a stronger/thicker bottom or more bracing that can handle the stump field abuse? Should I put teflon on the boat as soon as i get it or what. Tired of going though boats!!!! Looking for a 17x54 w/ tapered chines, one rear pod seat and a short (3 ft) front deck.

 Re: Which boat?
About the only solution is to have a custom builder make you a hull with a 3/16ths bottom.

 Re: Which boat?
3/16ths with 2x2 longitudinal runners is plenty strong, you could always glue 1/4 poly to the bottom of it.

 Re: Which boat?
3/16 with longitute, is about the best options.. 1/4" will kill your speed due to weight. another option is to use 3/16, run 2"x1/4" flat bar every 5" from front to back, then put conventional side to side ribs on top...

 Re: Which boat?
I don't know about killing speed. It should not be to bad. A 20'x4' sheet of aluminum will be about 140lb for 1/8", 210 for 3/16" and 280lb for 1/4". I loose about 1 mph for every 150lb of weight added. So that = about a .5 mph lose over my 3/16".

 Re: Which boat?
18ft boat made outa 1/4 will be about 63 pounds heavier than 3/16ths...Might not be a bad idea at all.
