So I have the hydroturf and I bought some DAP Weldwood contact cement. The DAP says temps should remain above 65 degrees for 72 hours after application. Does anyone know how much you can bend that rule? I'd like to get this stuff in, but being in MN I won't have those kinds of overnight temps for a long time.
Thanks.

Just finished install in a boat a few minutes ago. We do about one per week this time of year. Question, why are you using DAP contact cement? Normally we install with 3M Spray Adhesive #77 or Super 92. Much easier and will be tacked in a few minutes and fully bonded in a hour or so. You do want it to be warm, above 65, but with the spray adhesive, you will be okay in a few hours after completing. Just be sure the floor is clean, clean, clean and wiped with Denatured Alcohol before you start.

use the Super 90 3M spray if you use the spray kind...the super 77 works but will end up coming up unless you for sure have the warmer temps.

Even if the temp outside isnt warm just put the boat and hydroturf in the sun for a while until the metal is good and warm and can be warm for a little while after done

do the same if you want to use the weldwood and you'll be fine

How many cans of the super 92 would you need for 4 sheets of hydroturf. I think that is how many I would need 1754 PD. I haven't ordered it yet, but will before the summer is over.

I use the DAP when corners and such come up. Its alot more economical than the 3M.

If you paid a premium for the adhesive backed turf and use 3M spray at ~$15 a can.....

So whats the best way to go plain hydro and apply cement to deck or adhesive hydro and cement/spray deck?

Well, I hate to prove you worry-warts wrong, but I have used the adhesive backed stuff twice (oldest boat is now 5 years old) and I have not had the turf come up. I have had an edge barely lift years after I put the stuff down but no big deal. I have never used a can of 3M spray or contact adhesive.

Just stick it down and stop stressing about it.

biggest thing is makin sure its clean clean

When I do my boats (#3 now) i always spray the 3M on the floor/deck and on the backside of the turf even if it has the 3M already on it that way if you didnt get it as clean as you thought you have a shit load of spray adhesive and dont have to worry as much about cleanliness
