Currently preparing production prospectus for Public TV show about Louisiana boat building. The format will include interview and demonstration segments along with theory and history. Filming location will be a combination of in studio and on site. If any of you boat builders wish to parricipate pm me so I can add you to my list. Id like to see a boat builder challenge........you get 5 days to design and build....boats rated on performance...speed and handeling, creative accessories, and asthetics. It would be better than occ or any other build show.

Both tards and veterans at the tiller....blind comparisons, no one knows who built what boat.....same stock sponsors motors on the boats....a trials course......with celebrity tards .....

They would dramatize it just like every other show

"At 29.5 mph boat one is begining to porpoise, if the engine reaches 4351 rpm the driver will die in a huge explosion!!!!"

I think a boat building tv show would be great! Uncle J could star in it. I've always wanted to see how rigs like his were build from start to finish.

With the creative aspect that is part of the equation, you might not be able to tell who the builder was....that said, If you had a pd owner and a gt owner that was not to familiar with the builders, then no you wouldnt be able to tell who the builder was. Also the time trials would not discriminate between builders. The celebrity tards wouldnt know the difference. I know, I know, Owen you can name the builder just by looking at a weld but not everyone has that unique ability. It would be fun, highly dramatized (because the drama sells) and better than the other build shows. Also, there are other builders in the country, not just La. ....It could all culminate with the trial runs at the setx mud run in bessie heights, through the canals, across the flats and over the small island jump. People would love it, i mean look at all the drama queens we have on this site, hell we could be the show.

I'm not sure that most builders would want someone filming them and showing their "secrets of the trade" type shit.

Post subject:  Re: Boat building TV show.

the filming would be so edited like on the other reality shows (swamp people) that no one could figure out how to build a boat lol....one shot of him welding on the bow and another angle more close up of a weld on the transom with different clothes on and then back to the first...

glad you picked up on the sarcasm

Boat building is specific to certain areas. Boats are built to suit the needs of people where they are and what they use them for.

I would be interested in seeing boats built by craftsman, not aluminum tin cans that are all the same except for the different gunnels, rakes and location of grab bars with drink holders.

I'm not knocking any boat builders, but I like the rest of you have seen custom flats my whole life. There is nothing special about them other than they were built to a customers specs.
