I tried searching for an old thread but couldnt find anything. Does anybody know of a good quality boat cover that will fit an 1854 mod V Excel. I got a quote on a custom made and it was around $400. It was a solid canvas cover that covered the motor as well as the boat. Just wondering if that is what I am looking at spending or if there is another option. I dont need it to cover the motor just the boat because MB sells a good motor cover. Thanks |

Wife bought me one made by Sterns a few yrs ago. It covers the boat & motor & is supposed to be a travel cover as well. It was about $150, but I can't recall where she got it from. Only thing I didn't like about it was that it was Max 4 camo & the sun bleached it to be purple colored. |

Mine wasn't a custom cover. You had the option of square bow or pointed bow and choice of sizes. Here's a link to one like it, but mine didn't come from D!ck's. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/produ ... =236232038 |

Thanks for the reply I do like the one from dicks. I will look into it. I just am concerned about the cover and snow and how well it will keep the water out. |

Kept the water out, no problem, but had to support it from inside the boat. I think all covers will need some type of bracing or something to keep them from sagging in the center though. |

Custom is going to be your best value in the long run, if it made by a reputable shop, with the right materials. It should outlast enough "off the shelf" covers to justify the price. Towing (especially highway towing) the boat with the cover on it will reduce the life expectancy of any cover. However, a custom fitted cover with proper reinforcement will shine here too. The ones I've had made were set up for support rods that you install when storing the boat, and remove when trailering. You still have to brush off heavy snows, but otherwise they remain dry underneath. |

I had a custom cover made for mine and it's a great investment. Just make sure it's made of Sunbrella or another quality material and it'll last for years. |
