Post subject:  GTB 17' or 18'

hey guys im looking at purchasing a GTB but cant decide if i want the 17' or the 18' boat...?

Im looking at either the 54" or 60" bottom..will it be a big difference in performance with these 2 hulls?

gonna go with the GTR35 motor, i will be using the boat for bass fishing, jug fishing, bowfishing with the aluminum front deck, duck hunting... most run open lakes and rivers and some shallow grassy areas with sand and lillypad stems.

usually hunt max of 3 people, bowfish 3 people, and fish 2-3 people.. hopefully the GTR 35 will push the load well.

so waht GTB do tall think would be good for my type of uses?

Oh and i was thinking about adding a center console would yall do this ?

thanks everyone!!!

18x60 CC rig. plenty of room, hauls a load well. The stock 35 will work on that hull, but add a stage 1 and you'll love it even more.

so 18x54 or 17x54 !!!!

im thinking 17x54 and the gtr 35 and adding the stuff yall suggest, it looks to run better with the bolt on mods.

add a 7'6" rod box, and small box

would like to have a livewell somewhere.... ??? where and how should i set that up ?

also what about the console ? yes or no ?

and i guess the hand control trolling motor works best? what lenght shaft are yall getting in the minnkota?
I wanted to use a foot pedal trolling motor, and have them build a recess spot but i would be easier to use a hand control i guess.

i wanted to have some type of back deck for a person to bass fish from...and maybe the rails in the center of the boat from to tie to trees while duck hunting.

I want them to build me a protable deck for my 8 150 watt HPS lights i have now, and i can just set my generator in the floor. and some how make me rails that i can add in on the back deck to accepts additional 2 lights on each side.

I was thinking of adding a push fan to the boat but thats why im getting this type of motor so i can go in the grass and shallow water to bowfish without using a trolling motor, hence the back deck light rail add ons so the person driving can still shoot.

duck hunting just add my avery quickset blind and be done..

No, it can do it all but you want it all removable & thought of before you get your boat built... removable poling platforms are nice they are removable, hunt decks IMO are a must it keeps backwash from splashing over the stern while in reverse also provides a nice place to stand & work on the motor on the water should you ever have to. Nice place to get in & out of the boat. 1 gun box will hold your tools, extinguisher, life jackets spare parts etc. I always toss my gun in the boat in a waterproof bag decoys, rod/gun box (for me) is more or less used for a storage box. The pro-o2 system is an oxygen tank designed to keep fish alive. It can keep bait alive too & its removable as well.

I thought of this last night for a tackle box and rod storage!!! I take a ice chest from walmart put my bass tackle in it then add a rod strap on top. And some rod holders on the side.. That way if I news to go under trees I can strap them to the top of the ice chest.. And it's removable and everything!! No need for a box and much cheaper!!!

Go with the 18 ' boat it will run better with the load you Re carrying!! As for as bolt on mods they void your wArranty as do any other so instead of spending thousands of dollars on carbs and shit gets heads and exhaust and be done with it!! This is a mm not a ranger keep it simple you have to give to get with this boats and motor combo's

I have a CC 1860 with a stage 1. If I remember right, the 18 & 17 hulls were the same price. If I had to do over again I would get the hunt deck. Other then that, I do everything you want to do with mine and I've been happy with it.
