SDB started out strong on this forum back in the day but then got hammered for some reason. Do a search on them and you'll find plenty of reading material. Not much in the custom builder market in Ga. Paul Dixon (Dixon Airboats) does a couple of hulls that he will "kinda" custom for you. One is aluminum and one glass. He is about the only one I know of turning out an actual mud motor boat.

There are a few ol boys around Moultrie who are turning out a fiberglass rig that looks identical to Dixon's bateau. In the mud boat realm, you won't find much. You can find plenty of glass rigs built here but not much aluminum... not made here.

Extreme boats around Bonifay, FL(I think) is putting out a decent aluminum boat but they haven't hit on a good recipe for a true mud boat. I'm seeing more and more of them around.

I picked up an Authur Armstrong knockoff from a guy who had the mold down in Perry, FL back in the 80's.

Otherwise, you have to look at Glass rigs like riverhawk, coochie craft, etc. around here.

WEll thanks everybody I did check out sdb boats look nice but looking for someone that does a little more custom work. I'll be using this boat for duck hunting and. Bow fishing mainly so I've got some fairly unique requests. PLus looking at sdb's prices I could get the boat exactly like I want it cheaper from someone like uncle j or cajun. so looks like a road trip is my near future

Joey, talk to Paul at www.airboatsunlimited.com. 1-229-246-5761. Tell him Dale gave you his number. He's 76 years old but works 7 days a week from 8am to 7pm and has some good knowledgable help.

He did all the welding work for me on my flounder rig. Not much different from a bow rig.

He is a go-devil motor dealer, so you can get boat, motor, trailer and all the trimmings from him.

A bunch more pics on my photobucket account.

If you truely want a custom boat, I'd say make the trip south. No offence to you guys north of I10, but the guys who build boats down here are building using tryed and true designs and techniques that date back to the old wooden boat days. Those boat are built to withstand the absolute harshest conditions a boat could could be put in.

I am from georgia. I went through all this. It really is better just to have someone that specializes in mud hulls to build you one. I had uncle-j build mine and i am very happy with it.
