Post Should I stay with the SBX or go commercial Prodrive
I hunt some big water and cross big water but also go in alot of shallows. We get allot of nasty wind where we hunt. Is a commercial safe enough if you use your head or should I stay with the SBX. My main concern is weight don't want duals.

I do not run flotation. I like the extra storage and reduced weight. That being said, I invested in quality life jackets and a good insurance policy. If you go with no flotation, just be more careful and think about what you do before you do it. I saw in your other post that you were looking at a 2054. That is a big stable boat and you will have to be in some rough shit to take a wave over the side. Where i hunt it is not so much bad weather that worries me but crew boats.

I run a all commerical hull boat as well and we have some big water on the mississippi and I have never had a problem I have a big bilge pump wired up and like Barroll said just use you head. I lave having all the extra storage under my seat and under the whole front deck. I run a 1850 with high sides

what i do not like about the SBX is the water that comes int eh boat when not under way. I walked about a 1854 and everytime i went in the back the water came in. This was with NOTHING in the boat with me. If i put a hbuntign load on it i would have 1-3 in a water in the boat while puttign out decoys or fishing.

The other thing i do not like is all the storage boxes are 3-5" shorter due to the floor being raised off the bottom. The sides are only 16-18" from the floor so everyhitng is just shorter.

Nice idea if the water only went out and not in and if they build the boxes normal hight.

FYI...duals do not affect the performance of the boat and even when you get stick you can push it off the same. It takes only 2 guys and my wife to push my boat 50yrd with only 1/2" of water and a hard bottom.

Well I went commercial.. Due to weight concerns I lose about 5 or 6hp because of my elevation. Hopefully it will haul a$$ when the wind comes up. Now I am trieng to figure out if a commercial hull is legal in Wyoming.

Be sure to have 100' of rope and a clorox bottle tied to the boat so you can find it when it sinks.

Are there any laws in any state against Commercial Hulls.

When I went to Alaska, on some of the fishing boats they had fast filling C02 floatations devices. That would be some good insurance on a commercial hull in big water. They probably make some of the same devices that would fill with air and float your boat, probably upside down but hay.

I found several big self inflating rafts will sat phone and gps for half the price of a boat with floatation. With total weight of 15 pounds.
