almost pulled the trigger on a new. boat only 12,000.00 gator trax. till txshockwave called them junk. i've talked to many owners of them boats and all of them loved em. so tell me tx whats wrong with a gator trax boat. i'am having it built to run a mud motor. also would like to know from the two phowler boat dudes that responded to another post on here. if i tore up a boat like he did. what would you guys do to take care of the damage. and how would you take care of it. boat replacement. boat repair or what. and also txshockwave i would like you to respond to same question. since you are also a boat builder. not being a smart azz here. just asking. |

If you think you might tear them up, then why would you buy a 1/8th boat? |

owen. i don't plan on tearing it up. since they posted on the other excel boat problem. i'am just asking phowler guys what they would do and asking txshockwave why he stated a gator trax boat as being junk. i really want a one piece boat. i know a 3/16 bottom on a welded hull will be stronger but thats not what i want. i see there is a 18x54 brothers in the for sale adds. with a 3/16 bottom. that is also dinged up. |

imo gator trax boats are good boats. Had two friends work for them buidling boats and they are pretty durable. i find there are two drawbacks one is that they put the flooring down then weld the boxes in on top. thus making it impossible to get the flooring up without having to cut it out. 2nd is that the square front is harder to navigate through the trees(if running thick wooded areas). |

I have a Gator Trax 1750 HD with a MB 5500 and love the set up. Put 50 hours on it this past duck season and the boat performed flawlessly. They are built like a tank and they are heavy but can carry a load like no other boat I've had and turns like if it was on rails. My stringers run all the way up to the rake and if you don't like the square front, you can get them to add a pointed one to it. The only thing I regret not getting in mine is the front receiver hitch to mount a winch on it later on other than that, the boat is perfect for my needs. |

I owned a 1648 gatortrax boat previous to my uncle-j and I would never purchase another one. I was not at all impressed with their customer service the few times I had to call and ask questions. I also think they are way overpriced but thats a completely different story. I guess for being a boat manufacturer they can only put so much 'love' into one boat but once again thats my personal opinion. not really shit talking them, I just wouldnt ever spend my money on another one. |

I'm pretty sure I said the transom was about to fall off. Since you cant read and comprehend.I''l explain with more detail. The motor bracket was a add on to the hunt deck. Not built in to the boat. The welds were cold with no penetration. So there you have it. Hey don't let me stop you. if you are stupid enough to pay 12k for a mud boat have at it. As for your second question. I would not compromise structural integrity to meet a price point. |

The only thing I hate about mine is it's so heavy. Other then that I love it. And I agree it's pretty stupid how they weld boxes to the floor so you can't get it out. |

txshockwave thanks for the explanation on why gatortrax boats are junk. i'am also sorry that my wealth offends you. i'am having a very custom boat built for my grandson who will be returning from afganastan this fall. it will have very custom boxes - winch - trolling motor mounts - etc. also in that price will include a custom alum. trailer. you and the other boat builders on this site should of looked at this as a opportunity to sell a very nicely priced boat. my p.m. box should be loaded up. just one boat builder seized the opportunity to take my stupid 12,000.00 good luck with your bussiness. |

That might be one of the most bad AS$ boats i have seen on here in awhile, but for the price of that rig id just get me a nice bay boat. |

Gatortrax builds a nice boat, I have a 04 1748 prodrive boat which was built by gatortrax. They are heavy but do perform well, get the reciever hitch up front for mounting a winch it is a must for crossing levies. I jump most levies but do have to winch on some. |

My next boat will be a 17x50 Gator Trax Super Sport with 18" sides which is a new option in 2011...Gator Trax boats can be built to any specifications...very impressive operation... |

Gator trax built a boat for me before I came back from Iraq in 09. Kent was always helpful and took the time to answer my stupid questions as I was not familiar with mud boats. We always talk about how heavy mine is but, I just look at it as being well made. Mine was more than 12 but, I have no complaints. Like everything else once you get it or do it you realize a few things you could have done differently. I wish I would have had a little more dough for the hitch and a few other small add ons. I did go back and get the hydro turf shortly after I bought it and that stuff is worth buying just for how it helps with the heat if nothing else. I dont have reverse but it turns on a dime, dont know if others do that or not. Deffinately get the hunt deck. All the best to your grandson |

I just got off the river with 400 river miles runnin 5 adults and a lab, in a Go Devil 20x54 Surface Drive boat. Tough water conditions with lots of rock and miles of floating ice chunks big as a truck. It's preformance was excellent. Super tough boat. Might want to take a look at GD. Duckdon |
