Post subject: | MM and Jack Plates - Question |
Got a question on using a jack plate with a MM. Here is my set-up. I have a custom built john boat for duck hunting small water. Got tired of flimsy, thin and tipsy small johns so I had one made to my specs. It is 11 ft long but 48 wide across the bottom. Hull is .100 g and the sides are deep. Transom is 19". Looking at a Copperhead 10hp but transom is too tall. I can add a fixed jack plate that will get the Copperhead down to the right trim and it has a 4" setback. Looks to me like it should work. Anybody have experience with jack plates and MM? The plate I am looking at is rated for up to 35HP. |

you probably wont be able to tilt the motor due to it hitting the stern |

I bought this used 2004 Hyper Drive. The previous owner traded the original 48" drive for the 27" drive you see in the picture. When I purchased this motor I knew absolutely nothing about them and to top it off it was a complete basket case. I've restored the engine and frame and had to build a jack plate to make the engine work on my boat. I have 10 hours on it now and I'm pleased with the motor. It handles and performs well. 003.JPG |

I been wanting to put a hydraulic Jack plate on my surface drive so that when I get high centered i can lower it another six inches to grab some water. If I ever get around to it I send you a review. |

5200 RPM, 10 to 1 compression on Alcohol. When you hook up that turbo, you need to weld a piece of 1/4" steel plate to the front of the motor. That way, the pieces won't hit you in the back! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
