 Boat trailer rebuild
I'm fix in to redo my boat trailer to get some of the n!gger the last owner put on it off.
Right now it has 2x4's layed down on the 4" for the bunks with some Astro-turf like carpet on it, it just about sticks to the trailer when you try to push it off in shallow water.
Anybody got anything on their trailer that they can't live without?

 Re: Boat trailer rebuild
I put plastic strips used for joining lattice together. Lowes 8 bucks a 8 foot piece.

 Re: Boat trailer rebuild
git rid of all carpet on your trailer!! Just put it on treated 2x4s. Slides easy enough to get it off but you can still unhook while backing in with out yer boat fallin off!

 Re: Boat trailer rebuild
Carpet will also rot & hold water onto boards causing future issues... Get the slides. When I redo mine I am putting slides on.

 Re: Boat trailer rebuild
2x4's and slick sticks is all you need.
Like mentioned above carpet will only add to future issues.

 Re: Boat trailer rebuild
I have had issues in the past with my first boat with carpet ''eating''aluminum every time i buy a new boat and trailer i tear the carpet off the bunks or install teflon on the bunks so the hull can not touch the carpet. The carpet also will also destroy fiberglass!

 Re: Boat trailer rebuild
It's only certain types of treated lumber. I know you can't use it with ACQ treated lumber.
