 Re: Which Paint ?
Don't the kem400 need a primer too, though? I know when I talked to em about it, that was gonna end up costing me 2-3x more than I expected to spend. Good product though.
Sent from my Droid because I'm trying to be as cool as you someday.

 Re: Which Paint ?
Duralux M736 Aluminum Boat Paint Green. Requires no primer. Here is where I got mine. ($79/gallon with free shipping) Used about a gallon and a half on a 18X48- BUT have steelflex on bottom and coming up sides about 5" and did not paint floor or deck as I am putting hydroturf in. BUT....... DW posted up a place you can buy cheaper-not sure what shipping would be though.... http://www.bottompaintstore.com/duralux ... tag#nextagIf you are re-painting a boat.... SURFACE PREPARATION: The surface must be dry and free of grease, wax, dirt or other foreign matter. Scrape off all loose paint and dull any gloss with a light sanding or power brushing. Remove all dust with a cloth dampened with paint thinner and allow to dry. Painted Surfaces: A small area should be tested for compatibility where over coating old paints. Steel: Clean all bare areas to bright steel, Duralux Aluminum Boat Green will not lift Duralux Zinc Chromate Primer. Touch up with two coats of Duralux Zinc Chromate Primer. Top with two full coats of Duralux. Aluminum: Touch up all bare areas with Aluminum Boat Green. Top with two full coats of Duralux Aluminum Boat Green. Only comes in one color. Duralux also sells some other colors but they require a primer. Link below to other colors. http://www.bottompaintstore.com/duralux ... tag#nextag

 Re: Which Paint ?
I didnt prime jack. Cleaned it good and started spraying. Its tough as nails too. Careful spraying in high heat. Its an industrial paint and dries very fast.

I can tell you where to get it for 80 bucks a gallon. Just be careful, they might ship it to your neighbor and it'll take you two weeks to find out where it went...

 Re: Which Paint ?
Duralux can be purchased at the Galvez Hardware in Ascension Parish for $50.00 Super nice folks over there. They have the aluminum boat green, rig grey, and white. Not sure if they will ship or the cost of it, but i can ask if you need me to.

Yessir you would be correct on that. I didn't price anything but the aluminum boat green. Sorry to not post that too clear.

 Re: Which Paint ?
I've painted a rig with Parker paint and it was good and cheap... we did a Nat gear boat in Lock,Stock and Barrel Boat paint that Matched Natgear perfect and was by far the best paint and held up great...

Thanks Earl, that looks real nice. I think the nat gear is pretty much the best pattern for where I hunt. Any chance you remember which stencil's you used?

 Re: Which Paint ?
Man, I've bought 3-4 gallons of Duralux Dead Grass Green for $24.95 over the last several years at the local True Value---either you guys are paying way too much or I've found a helluva deal! This paint says to prime first but most everything we've painted with it we just cleaned and prepped well and it wears like iron--tough paint. We even painted a jon boat one time the night before opening day and had a electric smoker element and a propane burner under the boat to try to get it warm enough to dry--still looked good 3-4 years later(not advised but hey, we got the job done!) We've painted boats, shotguns, boat trailers, a mini truck, and various other things with it--even considering painting my FJ60 dead grass green! Rolled, brushed, and sprayed with good results.

dead grass green and aluminum boat green are two different paints. The aluminum boat green is a more expensive paint
