Brother-In_Law has a 1548 with a ProDrive 36 FPR and had to put a 1/4" alumminum deck 5 foot long to run by himself. |

lookin at the GD LT specs it says it weighs app 178 pounds...the GTR35 is app 225 pounds this is not an overwhelming difference and i believe it would hold it...a pro drive 36 is more than 300 pounds |

Thought the GTR weighed more than that. huh, nope 47 pounds isn't that much of a differance. I still wouldn't slow down to quickly! lol I would definitally put the battery and fuel tank at the bow! Your probably not going to get the full potential out that motor with that setup. load carring will be an issue. But you'll be running like a cat with a firecracker in its azz lite boat! ![]() |

Surfacedrive got a friend that has a older model 1542 boat and a 27hp Kohler GT he wants to get rid of said he would take $3500 for all of it. Dont have that many hours on it still running the first prop that came on it can get you his # if your interested |

Disclaimer--I think the GT motors are awesome and if I purchased another brand it would probably be GT. Now, with that said---I call BS on the "claimed" 225 lbs. weight. I've run one and seen one up close and it couldn't be that light. I'm guessing 265-275 lbs. F&F does make what is probably the best "custom made jon boat" style of hull on the market. The problem with going to a 35/36 surface drive is not so much with will it run---yeah it will run . The problem is stopping. Due to the weight there won't be much freeboard at the transom and when you stop water will rush over transom to the tune of 10 gals. or more unless you feather the throttle just right. Bottom line--it will run but it won't be safe. Look at a 23 or 27. |
