Acid wash first ( you can use allumabrite for this ). Then use a self etching primer, then apply your paint.

I used the spray can self-etching primer from AutoZone after acid wash. I was pleased with the results.

Crews when is your new boat gunna be done???

I have used some of that self etching primer in a can and it has done well. Even without alumabrite or sanding. I know we use a self etching primer on gas separators at work and it comes in gallons. Ill look in da paint booth tomorrow and see if i can find out where to get it.

When i painted my boat, i couldnt find any self etching in gallons.

As hard as you are on boats just get it powdercoated that's what Andy did with all the boats he built

somewhat off the subject, but the main spots where my paint don't stay on is on the edges - of the elevated walk through/split seat center bench & the front deck (running a go devil hull). where to you buy that black sticky/abrasive/no-slip tape - maybe 2 or 4 inches wide? i was thinking of trying that crap. does it stay on for at least one season. does the mart have it? thanks

Just buy the B stock hydroturf off of their website. I got 4 sheets at 30 bucks a sheet and cant find a thing wrong with any of them...I promise...spend the cash and stand back and admire the beauty...

never tried to help Willy fix his setup... why waste my time on a lost cause? Hey... just for the record, I'm glad we have atleast one manufacturer/sponsor on here that isn't afraid to make an ass of himself. I mean all of the other boat manufacturers that read this forum are classy enough to keep their mouths shut and not make fools of themselves. I guess they don't need to since they really don't have anything to prove. You, on the other hand...... well that's a different story.

Ignorance is bliss PWilly. You may not think you have anything to prove, but if you had any idea how crappy and ugly your boat designs were your yankee ass would be really hustling to play catch up.

oh... and thanks for the paint advice.
