Buddy of mine just bought a 25 Kohler PD Short Shaft and was wondering idealy how big of a boat should we put this motor on for it to perform well. I was thinking somewhere in the 16'-17' 48"-50" range, what you guys think? Not a whole lot of experience with a PD boat motor combo

Its on a 20x36 right now and he says th back of the boat sits about 3inches out the water.....it is also a tunnel hull but its sealed up except for about an inch of it.....says he's only getting 18mph and turning 3700rpms......

Garret i was thinking the same thing

If freeboard is problem have a short sport deck built on a 16/ 42 - 48. I suppose you are wanting to hunt areas w/ restrictions. Low front deck and open hull. Only box at the very back transom to be close enuf to run the short handle. Wider will help w/ load carry on short boat and short huntdeck will allow more freeboard and a taller false transom. Never ran a PD but seems like the best mousetrap for that motor.
