 Biggest SD for 1436?
ok, before y'all start flaming, I know all the risks. The bottom is gonna look like the prairie pothole region, don't overpower your boat, blah blah. Ok, now that that's all out of the way, I sold a boat to my buddy last year a 1436 monark with a 6 hp outboard. He foolishly left the outboard unlocked and it got stolen. Now there's a boat sitting without a motor and i'm thinking about buying it back. I have a 23 hp GTR sitting in my garage and i have half a mind to try it out (TERRIBLE IDEA). Anyways, I used to run a 23 GDLT on that sucker back when I owned it, and I'm thinking if I sell this GTR then I can put a MB 23 mini lite on it, which should weigh a lot less than the old GTR. Is this too much weight? Should I go with an 18? a 14? a copperhead 12 maybe? I feel like a pussy putting such a small motor on it when I used to run a 23 GDLT all day long (man did that thing go with that motor). Let me know.

You might want to look at a 18 hp copperhead.

My only experience was with a 16hp gdlt on a 14x36 fishmaster.
Though the boat only ran 15 unloaded, I would have been scared putting anything larger as usually the boat had me, a buddy and a big lab.

 Re: Biggest SD for 1436?
I'll check into it. I think that if I used to run a GDLT that weighs in at 178 on the back of that thing, and the MB 23 mini truly only weighs 165, then I'm golden and I'll find one to hang on the back. That brings me to the next question. Should I take the mikuni and exhaust off of my GTR and turn it back to stock and put that shit on a MB 23 and really make this 1436 burn?

 Re: Biggest SD for 1436?
I just talked to a MB dealer and the 14, 18, and 23 mini's all weigh about the same - 175. In that case, I'll be looking for a 23 mini lite.

 Re: Biggest SD for 1436?
That's the thing, I have a buddy who's willing to let me use this boat, and a motor that definitely won't work on it. I don't wanna spend the money on a new boat for this overweight motor that would cost me at least 4 grand to get a boat under. I'd rather sell the motor and get something with the money, so I don't have to spend any more than I've already put in. At this point, I'm about to sell this motor and say "fuck it" and leave mudmotors, this game is starting to get to be a pain in the ass.
