I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 1750HD with 19" sides or 1754HD with 21" sides, but wanted some imput on the difference the 2" on the sides makes. I run some lakes that can get a little hairy... not the ocean by any strecth but you can get 1.5 foot rollers. Other than the obvious answer of 2 more inches, do you guys see a big difference? I would prefer the 54" since I will do some fishing and hunting out of it just for comfort reasons, but don't want to swim home. I was trying to find some pictures of both in the water to see how much boat stays dry but really couldn't get a good comparison. I am planning on doing the new Hybrid model with Floatation if that makes any difference. |

If you are not trying to fit in tight spots or timber or something like that, I would get the 54. The taller sides will defiantly give you more piece of mind. I think wider is better. The only reason I didnt get a 60 inch bottom is because the boat wont fit in some of the blinds that i hunt. |

Damont, I think you have crossed your wires. The 50" bottom comes w/ 21" or 18" sides & the 54" w/ only 19" sides. The one sheet of aluminum used to make the hull only comes wide enuf to turn up 19" on a 54" bottom boat. Kent at Gator Trax can explain this better than I. I personally like my 21" sides. I hunt and fish alot of different areas and conditions and don't have any complaints. |

Your right... my fingers were moving faster than my brain... 1754 with 19" sides vs. 1750 with 21" sides is what I am trying to figure out. I do run some timber as well. |

The 1750 w/ 21" sides would be your best choice IMO. |

I think I can help you out. My first Gatortrax boat was an 1854. I still hunt out of that boat plenty, as I sold it to a guy who has become one of my top 2 hunting partners. I had that boat on some big water and was never afraid. Of course, the 2000 GPH Rule bilge pump and full flotation provided added peace of mind. I have also owned a 1650 hunt deck Gatortrax boat. It was the favorite of my three GT boats. It is the best compromise of room to hunt and carry vs. speed. A bonus is the higher sides. If this is a concern to you I say go 50" width on your Gatortrax boat. I loved my 1650 Huntdeck boat when paired with a Hyperdrive. I now run a Prodrive for the reverse feature, and I found the huntdeck to be less than ideal with the PD. So I sold it. |

I run the 1750 with 21" inch sides and I have been very happy with it. It is a very stable boat, and can hunt theree guys and a dog very comfortably. |
