Get ready....

I have a 1644 with a 27 and I love it. Wish I had the split bench though. What kind of running will ya be doing?

got to run a good ways to hunt in open water can get rough, but them its just shallow water and mud, i'd be all in if they had 20 sides, but they only make them in 54 inch bottoms

You just gotta be more careful with the wind and crossing the big bays.

I got one of those GDSD 16X60 and I have crossed some mighty big sounds and bays in the six years I have had that GDSD 35 and boat, and it gets me where I need to go and back to the landing again

.but I sure don't get it out in the big water, or when the waves are greater than 2 -3 feet or so.

I bought an 1848 GDSD boat with split seats and 35 GDSD motor this year and love it. The boat hauls a load great (planes 4 guys and a hunting load no problem) is still small enough to run tight places. Great compromise in length and width. The sides arent really an issue for me but i primarily run caddo and other small east texas lakes. The split seats are awesome and I would never go back to a standard bench after having them. Hope this helps.

A buddy of mine has a custom 18x48 and both he and his hunting buddy go 300 + with dog and gear pushing 800-900 lbs and he claims 28 mph deep water and 30 mph shallow. he has pods on the back and a skiff bow.
