A mud boat is simply a Jon boat with a motor which allows you to travel thru mud |

I myself cant afford a true flat bottom boat but my ribbed 15footer with my 23hp GD gets me through some nasty stuff so I consider it a mud boat |

All BS aside, a mud hull is usually considered a slick bottom hull with longitudinal bracing built with at least 1/8th aluminum. Your typical jon has runners down the bottom, made out of .100 gauge or thinner, and horizontal bracing. Long story short, not counting any inboard mud boats, it is a hull designed for a mud motor instead of a traditional outboard. |

Rake angle comes into play more than the length. Generally the longer the rake, the rake isn't as steep so it planes better. |

How the boat is built has nothing to do weather its a mudboat or not. Take a boat put a mudmotor on you got a mudboat. Take a boat put a inboard engine you got a real the mudboat which is my favorite ones |
