been looking at a 1546 triton short transom recently and wondering what size surface drive would perform the best. It is a heavy boat at the bow. i was thinking a 27 PD, but new to this and would like some input from some of the guys on here.

we had a 29 kawasaki longtail on a triton 1650ds and had to put aftermarket pods on the back to get the ass up out of the water more. not sure how a surface drive would perform on a triton.

but how well will it float a 23-27 sd? I'm concerned with too much water coming over the transom

You think a mud motor is that much heavier than an outboard?

water coming over the transom on a slow down.. yes.. i think a 27 pd is heavier than a 30 hp outboard.

I just sold my x27. It was to heavy for G3 1548 and it was slow! Made the back end drag.
