barnes/take em

I picked up some of these in white and plan on installing after the season. I've got a few questions.

How many of the 12" strips would you recommend for an 1848 and how far apart do you think is best? (I do not plan on cutting them)

What guage wire did you use on these?

Did you solder and shrink tube wrap the connections? If so, what size shrink tube gave the best fit around the wire/joint/silicone part of light?

Did you mount them as recommended with a little soapy water on adhesive and on surface? If not, how did you do it?

I had my lights installed at a friend of mines audio shop. These LED lights come in rolls, i think mine came in an 18-20' roll im not real sure. All my connections are soddered. You can cut the strip of light to any length you need it and sodder your wires to the end of the strip in the designated spot. All my connections are soddered. The back of the strips came with 3m tape, very easy application and they are bright as hell in the mornings, no more fumbling around with flash lights hat lights etc.

well I have the gator trax hull and my wires and fuel line just runs on the bottom beside the deck. I put some of it thats exposed in that corrugated plastic hose stuff. I have been wanting do lights for when your digging out the decoys but havent decided on what. these look like they will do fine. In green of course. I may have to experiment with how to run the power and what to run it to. I dont have a power panel or whatever in my boat just three pull switches

Well I did mine today and it wasnt too bad. the strips come with a power pack but I cut them off. The wire is real fine like cheap speaker wire. If you are going to run them in a loop like i did you will need to soder them because the ends have contact points and not wire. I used 18ga wire to connect thm. I also bought some double sided 3m tape, the same thats on the strips, to attach some cable hangers to hold the wires up. Im going to get some of tha plastic cable wrap next time I go to the store just to make it a little neater. I took these at 1730 so not really dark yet, pretty bright. My front two strips are covered by my blind but still put out some light. All in all I think it came out nice. Lessons learned: Sodering guns will burn you repeatedly if you grab them without looking... Thanks for the post. Dont make fun of my ratty blind it still works

Industrial strength Velcro would be a better way to attach the lights and the wire IMO. I find the adhesive is stronger than the 3m tape. Install looks good.
