I've got an 18' GD boat that is beat up and hooked at the transom. I want to fill in the last 6' to 8' between beams. I was thinking that I would use Fasco Epoxy #7UW to build up the bottom. Have pieces of HMW polymer cut to shape, have a 2" grid of small holes drilled in it to help bond the poly to the epoxy. Pretty much just be filler material instead of all epoxy. Anyone placed poly in small sections like this? |

Epoxy and polymer might work and if it didn't, you could sand it off. I'd be concerned about how it would hold up over time though. What about welding some 1/8" aluminum sheet between the beams? |

I have tried it on a ribbed bottom boat that had hooks in the transom. Worked well. Send me a PM and we can talk if you need more info. |

Took your advice and had plate welded to the back 60 inches of the boat. The guy did a good job. I am going to put steel flex on top of it to reduce the risk of a pin hole leak in the welding. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1341080626.526059.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1341080652.209013.jpg |

FYI, u need to grid the bottom with a 26 grit wheel then clean with acetone. It helps to put a dust coat (not a film) of zinc chromate before applying the Steel Flex. |
