Post GTR mounting
Should a 35GTR be mounted in the center of the transom, or should it be offset to one side?? I seem to remember some talk about offsetting the engine to one side about 1 inch. If so, which side. Thanks :?:

offset an inch or two to reduce tiller torque.

Got mine on centered. Went test drive it on the new boat before I bolted it down and center was perfect. Just tighten up the set screws on the motor and test it before you drill and bolt it up.

thank for the info. Any idea on which side to move it to reduce tiller torque?

i THINK an inch to the left if looking behind the boat was what was told to me but i am constantly taking it off and on to run two motors and if centered or off an an inch or two i dont notice any difference. Tiller torque is super minimal on mine.

Mount it centered and move the load in the boat or adjust the skeg. There is no need to offset.

I ran my old boat 1" offset to the port side. I think with a narrow boat it is better to have it offset. My new rig is a wider boat and is centered and does well with it. try it offset it won't hurt anything.
