I have a Lowe Roughneck 1654 w/ 20" transom - not the ideal mud boat I know, but am looking to upgrade from my 24hp MB Longshaft to a 35 hp surface drive motor. Any recommendations on motor / set up and what I can expect for performace would be appreciated.

Don't know if this will impact your comments, but I intend to upgrade motors this year, then look to upgrade boats in the next 1-2 budget pending.
