 Prodrive boat owners?
Has anyone cut the extra metal off in the back of the boat? If so how did it act after? I was considering cutting off the middle section and leaving the side areas about 6" on both sides. I know it probley acts as a trim tab would but wasnt sure if it has been done or not. seems like it would do even better in reverse if it wasn't holding so much water rite there.

Your not given it enough gas, the back of mine comes out of the water in reverse.

Trim it off as u need. Not gonna make much difference. U need to give it a lil more gas in reverse.

 Re: Prodrive boat owners?
Pretty much. If you get in a place that u need to back out of, U likely need to put it to the limiter to get it moving backwards. At least that is my experience.

 Re: Prodrive boat owners?
I agree and do give it the juice when needed I was just thinking that the lip on back holds a lot of water causing drag. I get out of tough spots. was just thinking about reducing some of that drag.

 Re: Prodrive boat owners?
I bent mine up by accident and it had a jet of water coming up in that spot that was hitting the front of the motor and splashing back. I had to straighten it back so I wonder what would happen if you removed a bigger section? I think you would get a rise in the water at the prop and mess with the motor pitch when your on plane.

 Re: Prodrive boat owners?
does the back of a pd boat have a little shelf like a big trim tab or something? My boat has a cut transom, really helps in reverse. Its like a little mini rake. Some folks say it hurts performance with the PD motor, but I can't see much in the way of hindering it.

 Re: Prodrive boat owners?
yea it has shelf on the back that just collects water, but I can also see it as a long trim tab. My buddy has the mini rake you talk about around his whole boat and cuts just rediculous doughnuts with his PD, but with the back raked like that he gets on step in reverse no problem and he is a big fella in the back of the boat. I can see where it could mess with the way the boat planes out or the torque from the motor that is why I got on here to ask it it has been done yet. Its alot easier to take that lip off than put it back
