 Re: 16x48 weldbilt
Probably are not many people that bought a 23 that isnt kicking themselves really quick for not getting the 35. Go big.

 Re: 16x48 weldbilt
Just make sure it's a tall transom setup, if not, make it tall.

I have the same boat with a 31 m b, I know it can handle the 35, more then likely you will have a porpoising problem but that's is a fairly easy fix.

 Re: 16x48 weldbilt
I just put a 35 on my 1648 Alweld and it does just fine. It's a short transom too. Don't be skeerd, you won't sink it. Just watch the backwash letting off the throttle. It get's close on mine if you completely let off at WOT, but hasn't came in yet.

 Re: 16x48 weldbilt
I run the 23GTR on a 1648 weldbuilt. Stock it was ok by myself but i'm never by myself. stock unloaded it ran like 22 or 23 shallow water. Now with my mods in my signature i'm probably gonna be able to hit high 27 if not 28s. loaded is another story its a barge stock and with three guys stock it was like 17mph and i had 3 in it yesterday with mods and with a cooler running 25 steady.
