Post Xpress Bayou Series
Anybody got one yet or know somebody who has!? Seen one on LA sportsman with a 23 GTR, nice lookin boats IMO but they seem way overpriced. Went to my local dealer to price em and they told me around $7000 for the 16ft and around $8000 for the 18ft, thats hull and trailer. The starting price at some marine dealer on LA sportsmans was $9,995, i dont know if that included the 23 GTR or not, i would hope so!!

They seem to be way overpriced for boats that are made with .100ga aluminum, you said it didn't but I hope those prices included a motor.

yea i cant see folks payin that much for an xpress when you can get gatortrax, excel, gatortail, and other hulls for the same price! they are nice hulls.

i dont know if the motor is included in that $9,995 price, i would surely hope so!!

I talked with Tim Bray back in september about these hulls, he sent me a spec sheet on a 16' & 18'. they seem heavy though. the 16' weighs approx. 681 lbs. and the 18' weighs approx. 750 lbs. IDK????

I figured soon or later the production builders would come up with their mud design. I figured War Eagle could be next.

Post Re: Xpress Bayou Series
Hey Guys, new to this forum...I just purchased the boat you see....(from Bents Marine )...It is a 16 ft with a 23GTL (No reverse). I paid 12,400.. with TTL ($11,000.00 with out tax)that is turnkey out the door..
The problem is I just put it in the water last wed (12/22) and had a 30 min run to the camp...Ran great there...boat runs around 20mph in deep water with 15 gallons fuel and 1 man (and gear)...problem is, i went to take a ride on my duck lease and the thing killed...i couldnt get it started back up....once i got towed back to the camp , i called Gator tail....they said change the spark plugs...then once we did that , it cranked up, but the motor has a internal knock now......something gave way in the motor..Not Gator tails fault, (motor manufacture)...But they assured me they will correct the problem , which I am sure they will.they were real nice on the phone..I will post update next week.

That stinks to have problems right off the start, but they will take good care of you. The only concern I have for you is that it sounds like you don't have enough horsepower for that boat. 20 mph with 1 man is kinda weak. I have a feeling you are gonna be well below 16 or 17 with any significant hunting load. I would strap a 35 on that boat. ;)

Here's what I know about a Express --If ya got problems with the boat, you better have bought it from the right dealer. Got a X22 Bay w/200hpdi now from Mississippi Marine, would buy another boat tomorrow from them. Had a 18' bass w/115 from boats unlimited in Baton Rouge, good dealer. As for H&M in Crowley you better "lube up " to ease the experience. Just a heads up for those looking at this rig. But why buy this when you can get the real deal from the motor manufacture?

Well, Just got back from Gator Tail today...They put a new engine on the boat...But i can tell you, that was some of the best service I ever had on a purchase like that...the whole group of guys at Gator Tail went above and beyond to make it right (Thanks Hoyt!!!)...Also found out that the folks at bents marine didn't put an electric fuel pump on it or a primer ball, which GT says I will need (and they provided to them when they shipped the motor))...Nor did they mention to run 93 octance gas in the boat...They also adjusted the pin on the motor and said it should run better..We all learn from mistakes (this was one of them for me...should have just bought the boat from Bents and the motor from Gator tail direct). Anyway, Going to run boat tomorrow. I will post results on speeds I get later.

I like the boat..everything is out of the way..(lots of storage). The boat is a slick bottom (no keel)(round chine). It doesn't slide in deep water at all. but of course, in shallow water (duck ponds). it will ,when running fast, need to slow down just a little to turn. Still only getting 20mph with a 23hp, (load or no load) but overall , i am happy with it.

Thanks, that helps. I like the storage, factory camo, extreme coat liner, rear pods, two rod/gun boxes,15 gal. tank under front deck, all standard. Doesn't seem overpriced to me. It's pretty fancy for a mud boat! Just hope you don't regret not getting the GTR35. Enjoy the boat, I can't wait to get mine

Just bought this boat and just to say the hull is a little overpriced but its a really nice rig. Everything is concealed by the deck so you have nothing sliding around anywhere. Battery ,bilge pump, fuel pump and wire harness has it own compartment just forward the motor on to transom. Under the front deck is a 15 gal. fuel tank, a spot to mount your trolling motor battery and plenty room for storage and on both sides of the hull you have gun or rod lockers which are lockable. I got mine with the 35 GTR Ive only been out a few times and the conditions were crappy but gps on my IPhone read 26 - 27 MPH in deep water with my 2 kids a total of about 290lbs plus 15 gals. of gas (hoped for a little faster but it'll work). Didn't really get to put it to the test in the mud (da boo) but I don't think their will be any problems. All in all I'm very satisfied with this rig so far. Just figured I'd throw some what of a review up here because I couldn't find much at all on this rig before I picked mine up I'm new to this forum but I think I'll be around for a while, I'll post more as I get more familiar with it.
