 Opinion on Alumacraft 1648 Mod V ?
Looking at a 09 rivited alumacraft 1648 mod v and putting a 27 or 35hp long tail on it. Would it completely plow water or would i be ok. I know it's not a heavy duty hull but the price might be right. Thoughts?

Better run the 35. You'll be ok with yourself but once you start addin all your heavy friends it'll plow.
Where in central Minnesota you at?

With a jon front end you will plane out better,(faster) with a long tail. It will spread weight out across whole boat bottom. Mudmotors are not made to run on mod-v hulls. U'll be much happier with a flat. Buddy had a 27 surface drive on a 1648 riveted jon and it did well.
From the Owatonna, Faribault area.

Re: Opinion on Alumacraft 1648 Mod V ?
Well learn from my mistakes , I stared off with a 23 sd on a 1448 tracker hull the boat it was welded and it was extremely light i figured that the 23 would move the boat pretty fast nope i was wrong it would get on plane and run about 18 mph 12-14 plowing water with 2 guys . After all the disapointment i spent the money and had a mud hull made and when i went and got it i was seriously worried ,the boat was alot heavier then the tracker and i mean alot heavier .The boat i had built has round chines a smooth flat bottom and the correct transom .the new boat with the sam motor a foot longer and way heavier gets on plane faster and is running speeds alot faster. Just me 25 mph, 2 guys 22 ,3 guys 18 but with 3 guys it doesnt get on plane like a bullet but it does get up on step .
Buy a boat made to run the motors and dont waste your money on a boat made for an outboard
