Post Trim Tabs?
My set up is a 14' alum boat with a 36" bottom and a 24hp godevil long tail. I would like to extend the boat, but just can't afford it. Anyway, I have a set of bennet trim tabs that are 28" long and 9" wide. I was thinking of just putting one on to see if I could get some ass lift on the boat.

What y'all think?

it will help some but with the length being short and width being narrow its not going to really fix the problem.

Im running one of Phowlers 14/36 sneek boats and they have trim tabs that are about 2 1/2'' x 16'' on each side and serve thier pourpose really well. I can bend them down less than an 1/8th and pick up 1-3 mph depending on load size but seem to help most when carying alot of weight, the tabs lift the rear of the boat up without the nose plowing and i get on step quicker. When its my son and I, Ill tap them up a little and run better yet. Im not sure how theyll do with your long tail but with my experiences with narrow boats I recommend you try it. If you could cut them down and run one on each side i think that would be the way to go.

Being my boat bottom is only 36", that would only leave 6" on each side if I centered just one tab. Being it is a hydraulic ram control, I could adjust it on the go.

I still need to find a gasket kit for my motor and buy a new prop too. Just a bit short on funds now due to I'm out of work and been in and out the hospital.

How much do they wieght? I think your boat will have a top heavy feel to it especially in turns running only one in the center with a long tail. Give it a shot and let us know.

Trim tabs are the solution for narrow short hulls.

Being the set I have is 28" long, I just might cut them to size to were both would = to the 36". Only reason I haven't did it yet is becouse I'm sick. I have a very bad heart. In fact, I'm listed for a heart transplant. I still have some good days, but they are short if I try to do to much on those days.

Best thing you can do is quit spending time and money on that piece of shit boat and be happy with it the way it is until you can afford a better one.

Crews, I'm disable now. Been out of work almost two years and I know I will never go back. This boat really didn't cost me much and I will not be using it that much. Its' something for me to do when I can. I do have another boat that I use for fishing/ducking hunting too!

Anyway, I have them mounted and all I have to do now is mount the control switch. I really think they should do some good.
