Just thought I would ask, I might consider doing this sometime this winter... Has anyone on here cut the floor out of their boat, bent some round chines into the new piece, and welded it back in with longitudal bracing? Sure seems like a tempting idea when I can get a 6' x 12' sheet for ~400 and have a shop do some bending for the chines, then another $200 in bracing material... I might buy a beater jon boat to try this with... |

If you do take on this project keep us updated. I have been thinking about the same thing I love my boat but it is horizontaly braced, I was even wondering about cutting off the botom and adding the longitudinal braces under the existing structure and putting on a new bottom. I don't know if it can be done. |

Its really nice actually it pretty much looks like a custom mudhull...but it didn't start out as an allweld it was a custom made boat to begin with but only had lateral bracing and 3 runners on the bottom. Ill try an get some pics an put them up |

Thanks for the pics you said they added a full smooth bottom. What was the bottom like before and did they cut the bottom off of his or ? I have been trying to figure out what would be the best way to do a project like this or if it is even worth trying. Its got to be alot cheaper than buying a custom hull? |

Yeah they cut the whole floor out from the transom to about halfway up the rake an left about an inch or so if the original bottom down the sides to have something to weld too. I think he payed about $1900 for why he had done |

After this season I will probably tackle my project. I will most likely do the demo and lay everything out the way i want it tack it up and pay someone to finish welding it all together I am trying to pinch every penny i can. |
