Started work on the electrical rigging on my small (1436, 9.5hp) boat project. Couple of questions: Does anyone know, or can anyone tell me how to tell, if my Johnson 9.5hp outboard has a charging system? I know it doesn't have an alternator, but I've seen references to some type of "charging system". I only plan to use the battery for running lights, bilge, phone charger, and driving lights. I'm also looking for a smaller than full sized deep cycle battery, which is too heavy, and I don't think I need that much juice anyway. Thanks. Spence |

Its called a magneto, and no I doubt yours has one.... But then again it may. |
