few folks run them...if you get it custom built make sure they put the right transom angle on yours...GT normal angle is 20 degrees...PD is 15 |

I have a 20 degree transom and don't have problems. I don't think it matters if you have the winch/hydro trim as long as you can trim up past the usual running height and I can also trim down real far. I did have them build the transom at 20" instead of their standard 21". I think RC knows more about this than me. I did a few other things because I was running a PD on a wide boat like a bigger pod seat but I am very happy with the hull. I would look into their Extreme hull if you can get it without a huntdeck. |

Thanks wilson. I already have the boat built, but it has a 21 inch transom. Thanks for the input. I'm sure that one inch will probally make a difference. |

So are you saying you can run a 36 PD FPR on a regular EXTREME step chine hull? I talked to Hoyt and he said they would build one with a 15* transom. I would really like to run a PD on Gator Tail Extreme hull but was nervous about how it would perform without riding in one first, but didn't figure anyone had tried it yet. Would love to go for a ride if you know anyone running that set up. |

If they can build one with 15 degree transom they surely can make it with 20 inch transom height. |

anybody can correct me if I'm wrong but i've always been under impression that the transom angle is more key than the height but with that being said you would want a 21" transom over a 19" transom because lower would automatically place the entire motor down too low and can only trim up so high for that "sweet spot" but can trim lower alot easier if you are little higher on the transom |

I was told that if you have electric/hydro trim, that the angle doesn't matter. That is as long as you can trim up high enough. PD did redo the yoke because 2 nuts would hit the yoke at the top of the trim travel. They put 2 holes in the yoke that the nuts trim up into to give a little more upward travel. I have never figured out how transom angle effects anything as long as you can trim above and below where you want to be. Transom height is another issue. I know Gatortail used to have their transoms rise one inch in relation to the sides to make a 21 inch transom. This might have changed from 2 years ago. When they built mine, they just made the transom straight from the sides with no rise for a 20 inch transom. I measured it and it is more like 19" from the water and 20" with the 20 degree angle. I was worried about it for awhile and harrassed my mechanic about it a few times. I have heard positives and negatives but it does give a slightly straighter drive angle with 1" shorter transom because of the transom angle. My opinion is that as long as you can trim up high enough, don't worry about it after the fact. I've only had a problem with trimming up once when I was seriously overloaded and this was before the new yoke. Like people have said before, if you have problems, it's not to hard to modify your transom to tweak it for your motor. |

The transom height would depend on how you are measuring it. If you measure it on a 15* or 20* angle in relation to the bottom it will be taller than if you measure it at a 90* angle in relation to the bottom using a straight edge it will be shorter. My buddys Gator Tail boat measured 21" at a 20* angle in relation to the bottom. |
