Hey Guys

My name is Nathan and I am new to the forum. I live in SW Fl. Avid hunter and fisherman. Been looking on the site for awhile but finally posted.

I am finally in the market for a rig. I plan to get a Mud buddy moter and put it on a 16' boat. I am looking at a 35 or 45hp mud buddy. I am looking for some info on what boat to get.? I am wanting to stay in the 3-5K range for the hull.

I have been on tracker, war eagle, beaver tail. They seem to bee good hulls but I want to get a good rig.

Thanks
Nathan

Most people that has asked that question in the past were advised to go with a custom builder. They are usually cheaper and of better quality. There are a few sponsers on here you can get in touch with.

Might look for a used hull-you'll get more boat for your money.

They'll also tell you:
to get a "real mud boat" meaning flat bottom with no crimps, no semi-v.
Get a bigger boat (1848 seems to be the best all around from what I've read) or you'll be sorry you didn't.
Get a motor with reverse or you'll wish you had, well, most people here say that.

I'm no expert, but I'm sure they will be here shortly.

I wouldn't waste my money on any of the three you listed.

Get a real 18' mudboat.
What has you wanting a Mudbuddy motor? There are tons of options out there.

I would buy a used outfit off of here or the mudbuddyforums. Seems to me like people are selling complete rigs with low hours for about half of what you are going to spend.

Times are getting tough nationwide...Justify your purchase....thats the best help anyone can give you.

Get a gator-tail and your mud buddy friends will be envious of how you don't use a push pole to back up. but seriously any lawn mower shop can work on these motors so don't be scared of something new. Really search and call a few custom builders about a boat, you might have to drive a ways from sw florida but its worth the trip. I live in panama city and had to drive to Louisiana twice last year to get my rig squared away never regretted it. Good luck

Hey Nathan. This is Brian, my dad fabricated the tiller handle for you. Here is a link to my rig. Two of my buddies here in Okeechobee just got two sweet rigs from DEEP SOUTH in LA. I got them in touch with Calen Mire in LA for their 35GTR's. They are just about finished rigging stereo's, LED's, etc. I'm sure pics will be posted soon. I like my Alumitech. It was built in Orlando and Calen shipped the GTR directly to them.
