Has anybody cut the front deck on a go devil deck and put a hatch in? I was thinking about installing something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=26451 Is the deck strong enough to cut out a big hole and it not sag. Any input or other ideas would be appreciated. |

I think youde have a big problem with saggin'! The alum on the front deck isnt all that thick...and screw tearin out all that foam. Just roll on with it the way it is. |

I was going to do that, but decided to buy a new boat b/c of all the foam and for other reasons. You will have to brace the front deck somehow and removing all that foam will not be fun. |

I'm not sure about putting a hatch in the top of the front deck. But I cut 2 holes in my bow to mount my gas tanks. I haven't lost any strength. I have 2 peole bowfishing from my deck with no issues. I'll be honest, pullin the foam from under there was not fun, but it can be done. Here are a few pics of mine. Hope this helps. DSC02379.JPG DSC02254.JPG |

I did my polarkraft big enough to get the gas tank in. Just go on and take the whole bow cap off, cut your hole, then cut marine grade plywood and subfloor adhesive/stainless bolt it to the underside of the bow cap to stiffen it up, reattach and get an aluminum guy to make you a lid for it. I'll post some pics of mine, came out pretty good. I weigh 280 and can jump up and down on it, doesn't budge. |

I never dealt with the foam, but I have extended the deck and installed a hatch on a boat. I got some aluminum angle and square tubing to brace it up and put it all together with rivets since I had no welder at the time. Me (210 lbs) and a buddy (330 lbs!) could both stand on it with NO sag. If you brace it good you shouldn't have a problem. If I remember correctly I think I put a couple vertical pieces from a cross brace on the floor to the deck. It held for years and then I finally sold the boat. |
