I have 1648 weld built with 18hp sd and Im running 18mph by myself with no gear (240lbs) and 16-17mph with me and a buddy with no gear (470lbs). It just seems like my boat is to heavy for my motor. I dont really need the extra length because I dont hunt out of my boat only travel to the blind in it. So would I get more speed if trade down to like a 1448 or 1442 I know they say wider is better but is length an issue. I have a guy wanting to trade me a 1438 tunnel hull would this be a good trade? How do sd's handle tunnel hulls?? |

i know it is more money but i would look at a larger motor for the boat you have rather than a smaller boat |

I agree with BiranB you will regret getting the smaller boat. 3 guys in a 14 Is not that comfortable i dont think unless you have a huntdeck on it or something |

A bigger motor is not an option anytime in near future or future in general.. I mean I lucked up and picked this motor up for $500 because the guy was in a bind but im not going to find that good of a deal again. |

Can you put a 23 on that frame? My 23 frame is stamped 18-23. Even if you put a 23 on it your not gunna see much more speed 21-25 tops. Save your money and buy a 35 gtr! Or any motor besides a godevil, worst mistake ive ever made was a go devil |
